Summary report 

On first week of May, Tom Jiv of Israel was busy in preparing documents in Counselor section of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was looking for ways to take government permission for his newborn child, delivered by an Indian surrogate mother in a hospital in Kathmandu.

Tom, however, is not the first person to seek such permission. On the last week of February, Powel of Israel had taken a child from Nepal to his country after getting it delivered by an Indian surrogate mother.
The officers at the counselor section are dilemma finding ways to treat these kinds of cases that throng into the counselor office. Government officials say that Israeli people landing in India to search surrogate mother, conduct in-vitro fertilization and bringing them to Nepal for delivery is increasing.
Tom had used Farzana of New Delhi as surrogate mother. He had paid her $ 4000. Wife of Tom had returned back to Israel after installing egg in the mother. They were graced with a baby girl in Grande International Hospital on January 5.

The hospital had given birth certificate and Ministry of Health and Population had approved it. However, he was returned back saying there is no law for surrogacy in the country.

According to source at counselor office, many Israelis have been coming to the country looking after surrogate mothers. Many of these foreigners seek Muslim surrogate mother to get their baby delivered.

Ambassador for Isreal, Hannan Godar said Israelis come to Nepal for various purposes including medication. He said since medical issue are personal he did not want to delve further into the issue.
